The tide was ideal for Mariners, even though I was busy over weekends. But still manage a few hours there with Ricky.
Picked him up at 4:30am,we were fishing before 6am.(yes,I know.We are mad)
I fish with lugs only as I was sick of the doggies if I put any squids or peelers on the hooks.Ricky was fishing with lugs but tip a bit of squid on the hook hoping for the thornback or cod.
We were getting bites steadily throught out the morning but only from the whitings and little coddies.Bang on top of high water at 8:30am,Ricky got a typical thornie bite and reel in a 4lb der.
That was it.Although no cod nor big whiting, but we're fully enjoy the early morning session.
With some bigger tides the coming week, hopefully I can get hold of some fresh baits and having a go at the cods as there were quite a few good reports of cods being caught along the Mersey area.
