F&F at York 29th November

Went to fish a Fur and Feather match off a coarse fishing website.A chance to meet up and say hello with some of the Yorkshire/Lancashire lads and lasses that I knew. But what a day...It was raining cats and dogs all day,all my tackles getting soaking wet and mud bath.5 days on,I'm still trying to clean and dry them out. Fishing was poor with the cold north easterly wind and cold rain.I managed 3lb2oz of bits and the lad on my right only caught 2 fish all day.Only very few can manage over the 5lb mark out of 30 odds anglers. Although it was bad weather and poor fishing, but we had a mad laugh as usual.
Here's a vid of the Yorkshire captain recieve his Christmas presents from us Lancashire lads. After he threw his dummy on the forum a few days earlier.

A few photos of the day

Bannister Farm Fisheries

This is coming to the third week since I got my new toy Abu 706 closed face reel, but, still not have a chance to use it yet.All the local rivers and drains were unfishable. With such small tides and strong gusty wind, shore fishing is out of equation.I end up hidding in my local commercial fishery for a few hours this afternoon.

Winter's here proper. All the trees were stripped naked with the recent gales and bad weather

Fishing with bread punch over corns, caught plenty of roach and skimmers, also a few little tench,a few brown/gold fish, few F1.This is my biggest of the day

Brombourgh Wall

Only a small/midium tide today, and with strong westerly wind and showers forecast, there's no way I'm going to fish Liverpool side of the Mersey to face that weather head on.So Ricky and I went to fish Brombourgh Wall instead,it will be a nice change from all the usual local marks.
Did I just say showers
It was raining cats and dogs for the first 2/3 hours while we there. The rains only clear for a very short while near high water before there're more rains

When the rain stopped,it was nice

Fishing was busy.We were non stop pulling whitings and undersize codlings out on everycast all afternoon.A few of the whitings were over 13".Best codling were about 12"

Bang on high water,Ricky has one of those typical "slack linner" cod bite, the fish was fighting all the way in,it was moving with some speed right under the wall...one second it was to the right, then left next second. We were so convince it was a big cod as we only fish with lugs,no crab or any other fishy bait at all.

But..........
.....a bleeding 9lb1oz tagged thornback ray

Because the fish was tagged,I now had contact Liverpool Museum RayWatch Project team....No,we're not trying to claim the £4 reward, but trying to help,to supply them the update informations and photos
Hope anyone catching a tagged thornback ray in the future will do the same to help them.

Egremont,Wirral

Had a couple hours at low infront of Town Hall late this afternoon/evening.Again,no decent cod for me but plenty little codlings upto about 12".The crabs were a nightmare, every cast, you either got a fish on within minute or baits getting stripped.Packed up well before low water as soon the run of the ebb slacking off that the whitings and dabs trying to hang themselves onto my hooks

16th Nov.Vale Park

Windy, but not cope for any of the shower. In fact,it's nice when the sun's out.

Fishing was ok.PLenty whitings, they were all insize. Also a few little codlings to about 12" when the tide was running out fast. But,no decent size cods Think I'll fish Town Hall today instead of Vale Park because of the wind more southerly today.

15th Nov.Twin Lakes

First time coarse fishing for nearly 2 monthes and I blanked.

It's good to meet up with the lads that I had a few knock up matches with them the last couple years.Unfortunately, the fish follow the under-tow,only those on the top end of the lake catching,7 out of the 8 lads fishing the bottom end near me D.N.W. = Dry Net Wok

River Mersey,Coburg Dock

Not a bad day

Apart from the nice flounder and an out of season plaice on the first few casts. It was an unbelievable busy session with all the undersize codlings on the flood and all the whitings near high water.
...2 fish on a pennel rig,3 fish on 2 hooks Portmouth rig, double header on a 4/0 pennel with a full squid....It was so bad,I gave up before high water

Not a bad flounder

Plaice in November from the Mersey, that's a result

2 hooks,3 fish, time to pack upEnd up in the pub having a pint or 2 with the lads that just got off the charter boat
